WSJ: Trump Told Advisors He Would Approve "Physical Elimination" of Iran's New Leader if Nuclear Demands Refused
The Wall Street Journal, citing current and former US officials, reported that Donald Trump told his advisors that if Mojtaba Khamenei, the new leader of the Islamic Republic, does not agree to US conditions, he will approve a "physical elimination plan" against him. Washington is insisting on conditions such as the complete end of the nuclear program and unconditional surrender.
Trump recently, in conversations with the media, called the selection of a successor to the killed leader of the Islamic Republic "unacceptable" and emphasized: "I will not endure all this hardship only to face another Khamenei again." The Wall Street Journal wrote that US officials believe Israel will likely carry out this operation, just as it previously targeted Mojtaba's father and wife in airstrikes.
In Washington, the new leader of the Islamic Republic is described as "a hardliner chosen by the Revolutionary Guards" who shows no inclination to retreat from nuclear goals or negotiate on US terms. Gideon Sa'ar, Israel's Foreign Minister, in response to the possibility of targeting him, said: "You'll have to wait and see."
