Trump Says US Deliberately Spared Critical Iranian Targets, Promises Hormuz Tanker Security

President Donald Trump said Wednesday that the U.S. military deliberately left some critical targets in Iran untouched during the military operation. Speaking to reporters, he said: "We could have done much worse things. We deliberately left some things untouched — things that if we destroyed — and we can destroy them within an hour — they (Iranians) would essentially never be able to rebuild that country again." Trump also said he is not worried about potential Iran-backed attacks on U.S. soil. Amid escalating tensions in the Strait of Hormuz, he promised that tankers transiting the strait would be "very safe." When asked how he would guarantee security in the waterway critical to global oil trade, Trump said: "I think you are going to see a lot of safety, and it is going to happen very, very quickly."
