Italy Deploys Frigate to Cyprus Waters as Part of Joint European Naval Mission

Italy is deploying the frigate Federico Martinengo to Cyprus waters as part of a joint European security mission, an Italian Navy spokesperson announced Friday. The mission includes participation from France, Spain, and the Netherlands. The deployment comes after an Iranian drone struck a British Royal Air Force base in Cyprus earlier this week. The frigate carries approximately 160 crew members and is expected to depart Italy for the region by Saturday.
