Israeli Strike Kills Ali-Asghar Hejazi, Deputy Head of Khamenei's Office

An Israeli official announced that Ali-Asghar Hejazi, deputy head of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei's office, was killed in an Israeli strike. Hejazi was appointed as the political-security deputy of the Supreme Leader's office in 1989 and spent decades at the center of the Islamic Republic's leadership structure. The U.S. Treasury Department sanctioned him in 2019 for serious human rights violations related to the suppression of protesters.
