Israel Kills Basij Chief Soleimani in Tehran; Larijani Also Targeted

The Israeli Army says it targeted and killed Gholamreza Soleimani, the head of the Basij Organization of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, in Tehran. At the same time, Israeli media reported that Ali Larijani, Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, was also targeted. Iranian media have not yet confirmed these reports. Brigadier General Gholamreza Soleimani had been appointed as head of the Basij Organization since summer 2019 by order of Ali Khamenei, the former leader of the Islamic Republic. According to the Israeli Army, these attacks were carried out in Tehran, Shiraz, and Tabriz. Israel says it bombed "various security headquarters including those belonging to the Ministry of Intelligence, Basij, as well as locations used for storing and launching drones, ballistic missiles, and air defense systems." Meanwhile, Eyal Zamir, the Chief of Staff of the Israeli Army, said that Israel targeted a safe house in Tehran during the early morning Tuesday attacks.
