Drone Strike Causes Fire at Lanaz Refinery in Erbil, Northern Iraq

A drone strike has caused a fire at the Lanaz refinery in the city of Erbil in northern Iraq. According to local officials, following the drone hitting the refinery — which was built in 2008 — operations have been temporarily suspended to assess the extent of the damage. This region has been targeted multiple times since the start of the war by attacks linked to the Islamic Republic, and also hosts a US military base. Earlier this same week, British forces announced they had shot down two drones attributed to the Islamic Republic that were flying over Erbil.
